Founder -  Elder Peter H. Wholuba

After marrying to Barbara Sanders Wholuba in February 1976, Peter H. Wholuba  began teaching bible study at a local church in Lakeland, Florida.  As time passed, the Wholubas were released from the responsibilities of the church they were attending.  Then God's divine plan started to unfold.  Peter began teaching bible study in the homes.  He continued to spend much quality time in prayer.
While shopping one day, he came in contact with a former fellow student from bible school.  Peter began to share with the friend how he was teaching bible study in the home and how God was moving by His Spirit.  He shared with the brother how he felt that it was God's will for him to start a church in Florida.  However, he had no knowledge of an available building. The brother said that a building on the corner of Myrtle Street and Tennessee Avenue appeared to be empty.  Peter and the brother in Christ went to look at the building.  God confirmed to Peter's heart that it was the building to be used to start the work.
Peter later contacted the owner and expressed his interest in the building.  After a second meeting, the necessary agreement was made to begin the work that is today known as Bethel Gospel Tabernacle, Inc.
The first services were held on Sunday, August 17, 1977 with Elder Peter H. Wholuba, his wife and daughter Anita along with five other sisters in the Lord (Mozelle Moore, Janie Cason, Kathleen Faison, Marcell Moore and Michelle Moore). Starting out with just a hand full of dedicated Christians, Peter H. Wholuba has continued to do his part to advance the kingdom of God.  It is obvious that this "house was built upon the rock" and it has not fallen despite the many trails throughout the years. The membership has continued to increase over the past 24 years to its current size.
Please take this opportunity to visit our ministerial departments and experience what God is doing.  We invite you to join our family of believers if you presently do not have a church home. Our newcomers' class will provide you an opportunity to learn more about the foundation of this ministry.  If you are in need of a ride to service, please contact our van ministry at (863) 683-5804.

May God keep you in His divine care.
